Program

Day 1 – TRANSFER AND ACCOMMODATION
Arrival in Sardinia and transfer to the hotel, accommodation, dinner and free evening.

Day 2 – PUNTA LA MARMORA THE HIGHEST PEAK OF SARDINIA

Transfer by Land Rover to the beginning of the path. Along the way to reach the top you can find rare plants such as the Astralagus of the Gennargentu, the saxifrage and dwarf juniper that crawling can reach 4 meters in length. It goes along scenic trails, trampling on millions of years of geological eras which have formed the highest mountains of Sardinia. This is the realm of the king eagle and the mouflon, they will be constantly present during our trek. The special feature of today’s stage is the altitudinal sequence of vegetation. In fact, we will come through forests of oaks, and as we go up the tall trees leave space for garrigue, a particular form of vegetation consisting of perennial grasses and aromatic shrubs. From the top the gaze will range on the whole island and you will see the sea both the east coast and of the West. In the late afternoon return to the hotel, dinner and free evening. Day 3 – FROM CORREBUOI TO MOUNTAIN NOVO SAN GIOVANNI

Transfer by Land Rover to the beginning of the path. The arch of Correbuoi (bull horns), so called for its unique geological conformation assumed by the two sides, looking to the Supramonte of Orgosolo at east and west on the Gennargentu. We will discover the old silver-lead and pyrite mines, we will cross valleys adorned with millennial yews and blooming gentian, until we will see the limestone ‘heels’ of Monte Novo San Giovanni and Monte Fumai. The area is rich in endemic plants such as ‘Ribes Sardoum’ and ‘Elleboro’. Here begins the Orgosolo Supramonte infamous for the bloody history of Sardinian bandits, nowadays a hikers’ paradise. Spectacular encounters with wild animals that populate the area. It is not unusual to see mouflons, hares and birds of prey. In the late afternoon return to the hotel, dinner and free evening. Difficulty E, walking time approx. 4 hours.

Day 4 – SUPRAMONTE OF BAUNEI AND CALA GOLORITZE’

Transfer by Land Rover to the beginning of the path. An exciting trekking with breathtaking views, the excursion to Cala Goloritzé, one of the seven natural monuments of Ogliastra, combines the pleasure of walking in a wild nature with botanical, geological and wildlife curiosities. We will take over the Golgo plateau, we will pass along the abyss of the Golgo, and after passing through a spectacular limestone arch the sea appears and along a steep and scenic path we reach the beautiful and unique Cala Goloritzé. The intense turquoise of the sea combined with the white pebbles on the beach will give you an indelible memory of this enchanting place. In the late afternoon return to the hotel, dinner and free evening. Difficulty EE, walking time approx. 5 hours.

Day 5 – SUPRAMONTE OF URZULEI AND THE GORGES OF FLUMINEDDU

Transfer by Land Rover to the beginning of the path. We begin with a descent along a steep slope in the direction of Flumineddu where we see the initial part of the Gorroppu gorge and the beautiful lake where the layering limestone of the Jurassic Period is evident, point where the waters of the rio (river) Orbisi meet the rio Flumineddu. We climb along the ridge to the resort of Sa Carcara where, nearby, we can admire a giant pot of karst origin full of water, we will also observe a large colony of newts“Hydromantes Genei”and a fossil desk full of bivalves and gastropods of 170 million years. We continue in the middle of a forest of giant oaks and minor maples up to the foot of a splendid specimen of yew. “Taxus Bacata”, the largest in Europe, a UNESCO natural monument. In the late afternoon return to the hotel, dinner and free evening. Difficulty E, walking time approx. 4hours.

Day 6 – FROM THE MOUNTAIN TO THE SEA

Transfer by Land Rover to the beginning of the hike. This is one of the most scenic treks in absolute. This fascinating trek will take us through the side of the mountain Giradili to the foot of the spire ‘Pedra Longa’. About 5 hours walking along a path built around 1800 by the charcoals merchants on a ledge with steep walls more than three hundred meters high. Throughout the trek you can enjoy a splendid view over the sea and on the 128 meter high spire of Perda Longa. The trail continues along the coast to Santa Maria Navarrese. In the late afternoon return to the hotel, dinner and free evening. Difficulty EE, walking time approx. 5 hours.

Day 7 – DEPARTURE

After breakfast transfer to the airport.
