
The Hotel Villa Selene has always been owned by the Cannas family and was opened on the 28th July 1968 by the founder of the family, Ing. Fausto Cannas. Since then he always run the hotel personally until 2005, when the management was taken over by his daughter Alessandra.
The hotel stands, where once were a farm, the master’s house with an annex for the guardian and a pasta factory owned by Fausto Cannas’ cousins. He relieved the estate and, maintaining the subdivision in three separate buildings, he transformed the whole property into a receptive structure for which he was considered the pioneer of tourism in the Sardinian inland.
Subsequently, he added a wing of rooms, the swimming pool, several installations and various sports facilities, always trying to keep up with time and interpreting the clients’ wishes, until the very last extension and the partial restructuring of the hotel finished in 2007.
Gentleman of grand hospitality, Fausto Cannas was a figure of great experience with a high hotelier’s professionalism, recognized by his colleagues who, in 1956, and until 1986, elected him Chairman of the Regional Association of Hoteliers in Sardinia, association founded by himself and, at the same time he became Chairman, until 1996, of the Provincial Association of Hoteliers in the Province of Cagliari, where he owned another hotel. He took actively part at the association’s life becoming also national counselor of Federalberghi until 1996 and honorary counselor until 2007.
What distinguished the owner of the Hotel Villa Selene was the gentlemanly bearing, the friendliness and the fondness with which he received “his” guests in “his” house, establishing a familiar style very much appreciated and remembered until today by many holiday makers - both Sardinians and not- who continue, since the opening until today, generation after generation, to prefer our hotel.
The mission is, therefore, today as in the past, to continue the project started by the founder, the development of tourism in the less known areas of Sardinia, trying to keep alive the concept of hosting and care-taking, founded on a professional approach, but in a personalized and familiar way, taken over and practiced by the hotel’s team. It makes us feel fulfilled and proud when we realize that our guests leave satisfied, happily looking forward to come back. In this purpose we are driven by the motto: “Pride of the past, hospitality as ever, enthusiasm for the future”
