The Hinterland - Ilbono, Villagrande, Gairo, Seui

The Hotel Villa Selene and Lanusei are situated in the Ogliastrian hinterland, a territory of low density of population, nearest towns to the hotel are:

Ilbono (3,5 km from the Hotel), lays at the feet of the Gennargentu, known for its handicraft activities, for the embroideries by hand and the lace worked with an ancient Sardinian tool, , "su vrevolitè", as well as for the gastronomic specialties such as the macaroons and the olive oil of the local oil-presses;

Gairo (14 Km from the hotel), risen after the evacuation of the old inhabited area, at some kilometres distance (called “old Gairo” or “ ghost village”) and abandoned because of landslides and floods happened between 1951 and 1953. The territory is characterized by beautiful landscapes as that of the calcareous tower of Perda Liana, populated by moufflons and by the ‘Gypaeto barbato’, numerous archaeological sites (nuragical site of Serbissi and Perdu Isu and the rocky bastion of Taquisara where a grave of the giants is found);

Villagrande Strisaili (17 Km from the hotel) area of particular interest and destination of numerous visitors for the peculiarities of its territory such as the park of Santa Barbara, the numerous archaeological sites and graves of giants, the traditions been nearly unchanged in comparison with the ancient times;

Seui (51 Km from the hotel), ancient suburb placed at the feet of the Gennargentu. Of notable interest, in the inhabited centre, the site of the ex Spanish jail of 1647, where it is possible to visit the environments that have seen dramatic human stories happened for centuries, and at about 3km from the inhabited area, it is possible to visit the carboniferous mine of St. Sebastiano, discovered in 1827 by Alberto Lamarmora, and the nuraghe "Ardorai."
