Cannonau

The Cannonau drifts from a vine in diffused the entire regional territory but the zones of greater production in Sardinia are Ogliastra, Barony, Barbagia and Mandrolisai.

The Cannonau is a wine of a red ruby color, with an intense aroma, ample, fragrant, and of dry taste, full-bodied, soft. The alcoholic gradation depends on the zone of production, but it is never inferior of 12,5%. Generally, it ages for 2 to 6 years, for then to be consumed at room temperature between 18 and 20°C. It is generally used to accompany red meats such as the game, but also the classical pecorino (ewe’s cheese) produced in Sardinia, but also excellent to be tasted on its own.

For taste, quality and anchorage to the local traditions, the Cannonau of Jerzu is considered an extremely appreciated wine, so much so that, for its guardianship and guarantee, it has been assigned with the mark DOC, and recently also with the mark DOP: the Cannonau of Sardinia has surely become, the most representative wine DOC of Sardinia and certainly the best known wine abroad. Despite the evolution of producing techniques, the Cannonau is still firmly anchored to the Ogliastrian land and has not suffered any changes in terms of tradition, neither in terms of quality.

The main zones in Ogliastra for the Cannonau wine production are Jerzu and neighboring zones (28 km from the hotel) and Tortolì (18 km).
